Reviewing feedback from the jam, it's clear my short-term art was not meeting just about anyone's desires. The next planned update won't be too significant in the way of gameplay updates, but will be a project refactoring along with a complete overhaul of the character sprites.
Posted above is the soldier update. We're doubling the resolution here, so hopefully we make good use of all of those extra pixels! As always I welcome the feedback so I can adjust and course-correct as soon as possible if it's something I agree with (and have the skills to accommodate!)

Any updates coming?
I have some ideas for additional units.
Priest: Increases the health regeneration of nearby units
Hero: A soldier that moves across the path, untying captured units.
Mage: deals ranged AOE damage, has a low attack rate.
White goblin: splits in two when killed
Goblin king: a black goblin wearing a crown, has twice the health of a black goblin and deals twice as much damage. Can carry multiple bound units.
Looks interesting! Are you also going to adjust the goblin collision so they don't clip out of bounds? Removing the collision might make things harder, but on the other hand, it seems most of the bugs/exploits are based on goblins getting stuck on stuff...
